Raleigh Division Donates Bikes to Hope Connection & Children's Home Society of NC

At Smith Douglas Homes, building homes is only part of our story. Showing up for our communities, especially in moments that matter, has always been at the heart of who we are.A Holiday Tradition that Keeps GrowingOn Wednesday, December 3rd, the Raleigh division came together for our third annual Bike Donation Drive and Build Day. What started as a simple idea became a tradition we look forward to all year, and this year felt extra special. Thanks to the generosity of nearly 30 trade partners and individual donors, we assembled and organized 110 brand-new bicycles and helmets. That’s more than 40 bikes above our previous record!Every bike is headed to a child served by Hope Connection and the Children’s Home Society of North Carolina. For many of these kids, a bike isn’t “just a gift.” It’s freedom, confidence, and a childhood wish coming true. Knowing how many of these bikes were at the top of their wish lists made the day feel even more meaningful.Thank you for Being Part of itTo every trade partner, donor, and team member who helped make this happen: thank you. You didn’t just donate bikes, you helped create moments of confidence, freedom, and pure childhood happiness. We’re grateful to play even a small role in making the holidays a little brighter, and we’re already looking forward to doing it again next year! Here’s a little behind-the-scenes look at a day that reminded all of us what the season is really about.

Meet Maggie: How a Vintage Airstream Became the Coolest Sales Office on the Swamp Rabbit Trail

Meet Maggie: How a Vintage Airstream Became the Coolest Sales Office on the Swamp Rabbit Trail

The energy in Travelers Rest, South Carolina, is undeniable. It’s a trend-forward, outdoorsy town where the Swamp Rabbit Trail is the central artery—buzzing daily with bikers, families, and locals grabbing coffee or tacos. When our Greenville team began developing the Magnolia Trail community right off the trail, we knew we had to capitalize on the constant, literal foot traffic. People were already stopping to check out the construction, but with no model home ready, we faced a challenge: How do we establish a genuine, magnetic on-site presence now to capture all that excitement? We realized quickly that a typical trailer or temporary office wouldn't cut it. To truly succeed here, our presence had to be as authentic, cool, and creative as Travelers Rest itself.Cue the lightbulb moment: A vintage Airstream. The Great Airstream HuntFinding the right one was an adventure. We needed a rental for about 40 days—long enough to open our doors to potential buyers, but too short for most Airstream owners or dealerships. Most politely declined. But our trademark persistence kicked in. After countless calls across the Carolinas, we struck gold and found a new partner: an Airstream refurbisher out of Asheville. He not only understood our vision but was thrilled to see his beautifully restored trailer transformed into a temporary sales office. He knew how special this town is and wanted to help us match the vibe perfectly. And that’s how Maggie, the Magnolia Trail Airstream, was born. Our girl, Maggie, perfectly embodies the Magnolia Trail aesthetic—warm, welcoming, a little nostalgic, and completely on-brand with the Travelers Rest lifestyle. Parked right near the Swamp Rabbit Trail, she was turning heads and drawing in curious visitors from day one.Maggie was more than just a temporary sales office; she was a symbol of the creativity and out-of-the-box thinking that defines our approach to community building. She represents our commitment to understanding and integrating into the unique spirit of Travelers Rest. As we launch our new model home sales office, we take a look back at our time with Maggie and celebrate the innovative sales office approach by the Greenville Marketing and Sales team.
